The story of my green tent
Just 10 days before an unexpected major deadline, one of my long-time clients hit me with a challenge that could make any DMC owner’s head spin. 😅 His request? “I need an army tent installed as an office for two months at a remote location—over 700 km away!” Sure, no problem… 🫣
Here’s what we were up against:
– ⏳ A ticking clock with barely any time to source everything.
– 🦗 August in Germany, where most vendors are on vacation—Crickets!
– 🎨 A tent in a specific color and structure, typically a custom order.
– 🪑🛋️The need to create an ideal working atmosphere, complete with furniture and workstations.
– ✈️ I was juggling another project and had limited time, plus three of my colleagues were on holiday, so we were running on a skeleton crew.
– 💸 The budget was decent, but considering the Herculean effort required, it wasn’t exactly overwhelming.
This project was way out of our usual scope. We’re a full-service DMC in Germany specializing in large events—think hundreds of attendees, with everything from transportation and excursions to venues, AV and catering.
After 16 calls to my go-to partners across the nation and multiple Google searches that turned up nothing but subpar options, I was about ready to throw in the towel.
