The Isar is the main river in Munich. Even though you are in the middle of the city you will think you are in the middle of the countryside. The area along the river is perfect for biking, jogging, or simply relaxing in green nature. The Isar crosses Munich for approximately 14 kilometres and flows from southwest to northeast. It has its source in Deggendorf and ends in the Danube. Nowadays the banks and water meadows of the Isar are the central recreational area of Munich.
